原版即直接接收香港发射信号之方式，1980年代开始，珠三角居民都会安装俗称“鱼骨天线”的天线装置来接收香港方面的原版信号，但1990年代因政府干扰及强拆私人的天线后，广东城市基本无法使用无线接收。自从数码广播讯号在2007年12月31日正式在香港发射后，由于没有“雪花”，而且接收难度降低不少，所以珠三角居民为了收看数码电视而使用数码广播接收器。

模拟信号明珠台在香港以外地区接收较为困难，覆盖地区（信号为可观看级别）包括深圳市南部地区，东莞西南部，中山中北部、石岐城区（10层以上)、五桂山以南，珠海沿岸及澳门。

由于数码信号发射站功率和发射方向与模拟信号发射设备不完全相同，所以数码明珠台在香港以接收教模拟信号容易，而覆盖区域亦较广。覆盖地区（稳定接收）包括深圳，东莞西部海岸，惠州西南部及惠阳，广州经济开发区、番禺祈福新村以南地区、广州市海珠区（高层）、南沙区，顺德大部分地区，江门部分地区，中山除五桂山及其以西的所有地区（包括石岐城区，频率650），珠海，台山四九镇、水步镇，新会，斗门以及澳门。以上大部分地区使用三米鱼骨天线加放大器及解码器便可收视。

而有线版即广东省有线电视网络内播放的版本，节目与香港的一样，但是广告与部分节目片段被插播。

广东省内明珠台信号统一由广东有线网络股份有限公司（省有线电视）提供，内容已经过审查。广东的电视观众可能会遇上“找不到明珠台”的情况，原因有：

地级有线电视台根本没有转播明珠台（如汕头市南澳县）；

广州有线因为对珠江宽带预留频普，所以占用明珠台的位置，使广州有线用户无法收看。

省有线电视会在每晚深夜明珠台转播《Bloomberg财经第一线》，以及清晨五时录播台湾TVBS-NEWS《24:00整点新闻》和上午7时30分转播美国广播公司《ABC世界新闻》的时段，以静态风景画面或者预先录制的旅游和饮食节目加以覆盖。此外，明珠台在深夜重播部分资讯类节目，例如《华尔街快讯》，《60分钟时事杂志》，《明珠档案》等的时段，有时会被完全覆盖，另一种更为少见的情况是在明珠台深夜播出电视剧集和电影时，亦发生过被突然覆盖的情况，原因至今仍然不明。 广州市内由省线与市线瓜分。

市线直接与无线、亚视签约，可收看丽音（粤语）频道。市线则在广告中间不断重复播放正大方圆的广告，有时更在节目播出时直接插入，影响正常播放。广电总局规定从6月12号凌晨起，全国国内转播境外电视必须采用广东省有线电视作为信号源。原广州有线能接收粤语版明珠台，因此措施而被取消。 广东省内其他城市收看的明珠台节目来自广东有线，此信号就是在广州市播放的信号，当这个信号传送到下级县市的时候，原本已经插了广告的节目会再被当地电视台层层插播广告，结果往往会导致插播广告超时愈显严重。而由于插播广告的质素参差，其中亦有市级电视台将自制的低质新闻节目长时间覆盖明珠台画面，影响其有线用户对明珠台原有节目的正常收看。
